Echo Marvel Show Review : New year, new superhero, new story, new looking Marvel cinematic world. Children, youth and elders who have grown up watching the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) have such new expectations from Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studios at the beginning of every year. This year, another female superhero of MCU is on screen. Not for the first time because the audience has already seen this character in ‘Hawkeye’. Not being able to hear appears to be her weakness to the world, but what she can hear is beyond anyone else’s power. Even her body is not fully supportive of her, but whatever could have become a hindrance in her escape, she turns that very thing into her strength. Perhaps this is called opportunity in disaster. This is the story of Echo i.e. Maya Lopez, whom the audience has met in the MCU web series ‘Hawkeye’. This time the story is only of Maya and the audience of the one whose name is Maya can guess how far her story will extend and how it will be.

Echo Marvel Show Review

The story of this five-episode fixed series ‘Echo’ is related to the villain Frisk seen in the ‘Daredevil’ series. Marvel Studios’ efforts to tell the different stories of the characters of the MCU stories by combining their past, present and future imaginations have not been very successful. Nevertheless, from the web series ‘Echo’, as its name implies, an echo is heard that the makers of MCU are now trying to contain the chaos that has spread haphazardly in the last few years. After the announcement of the return of ‘Daredevil’ in Anaheim, Charlie Cox has already started appearing in the stories of the MCU. In this series, he is seen creating the basis for the sequel of his series. Marvel management has done one more thing in the web series ‘Echo’ and that is that it is making commendable efforts to present its stories around ‘Daredevil’ and other initial series of Marvel.

illusory world of maya

The story of Maya Lopez tells from her past to her present. His childhood, where he left his home and family with his father and settled in New York, is not the beginning of his character. The story of Maya goes back centuries. So far back that the characters of the stories there resemble today’s stories. This shows how she is so powerful and agile. Sign language is her only way of communicating with the world, and when she uses less tongue and more kicks, her dueling skills are a sight to behold. This web series, exploring the history of a particular ideology, community or should we say sect, establishes the character of Maya Lopez in the MCU, but the MCU, which is getting lost in the puzzles of the stories of countless characters, now needs to establish its own before every series and story. A recap of the entire MCU is a must run.

Sydney Freeland’s new direction

Director Sidney Freeland has given its distinct and real identity to the web series ‘Echo’. In this he has got a lot of help from his creator Marion Dyer and writers like his team’s Amy Rardin. The way this story travels from the 13th century to the 21st century, connecting the Maya past with the Choctaw tribes, in just five episodes, is a bit tedious but the presentation of this story keeps the audience engaged with the story continuously. This series should also be seen by the students of cinema from the perspective that when a character is inferior in these qualities in visual and audio medium, then in how many different ways his character can be presented with the help of current technological developments.

The picture is still pending..

While Maya Lopez’s story connects with Frisk, this end of the MCU reaches Daredevil. Vincent D’Onofrio, as Frisk, has been one of the early villains of the MCU. He also has his own separate fanbase among the MCU audience. He is a human villain rather than a demonic villain and this is what sets him apart from other villains in this fantasy world. Vincent’s acting has been excellent from the beginning. There was amazing coordination between his facial expressions and his body language. And, with the help of this character of Frisk, Freeland gets help in presenting Maya as a character who is not a villain but is established as an anti-hero in this series.

charisma of alequa cox

Alequa Cox’s performance as Maya Lopez is the most spectacular aspect of this series. The scenes in which Sidfield tries to present the character in its natural form by creating 100% silence are the life of this series. Alequa has also done wonders in the action sequences of the series. When Maya fights by turning her shortcomings into her strengths, it is very interesting to see those action scenes becoming the reference point of filmmaking.
