The Samsung Galaxy Ring was teased near the end of the Galaxy Unpacked event earlier this month. Despite demonstrating the new product, the corporation did not provide any information about it. However, a recent source claims that it may be unveiled later this year. The source also listed some of the expected features of the health-focused wearable device and stated that the Galaxy Ring would be lightweight. Furthermore, the Samsung Galaxy Ring may be made available in three different colorways and several sizes.
The rumour comes from SamMobile and quotes Avi Greengart, a tech expert who claims to have had hands-on experience with the Samsung Galaxy Ring prototype. In a Threads post, they stated that the gadget was “incredibly” lightweight and will be available in a range of sizes, including size 13 (22.2mm). Additionally, the expert stated that the item would be available in three distinct finishes later this year.
The Samsung Galaxy Ring was promoted as a health item at the Galaxy Unpacked event, where the South Korean technology corporation launched its top Galaxy S24 smartphone series. The Galaxy Ring is supposed to be equipped with a number of sensors that measure the user’s health markers and physical activity. Some of these sensors could be seen in the teaser video, and the firm described it as a “powerful and accessible health and wellness device” at the event.
While Samsung has not provided any information regarding the on-device sensors, the next Galaxy Ring wearable is believed to have a 24/7 heart rate monitor, a SpO2 (blood oxygen) sensor, a sleep monitoring tracker, and other fitness tracking features. It may also include blood pressure monitoring and atrial fibrillation or AFib detection (a kind of arrhythmia that is a heartbeat disorder), albeit these are based on more esoteric suspicions.
The device will also apparently integrate Samsung Health into its capabilities, but will most likely require a companion app or device to sync and display the data to the user. The ring will most likely work with both the Samsung Galaxy Watch and the Galaxy smartphones. According to the teaser images, the inside of the ring may contain a pogo pins slot for charging purposes.
While the Samsung Galaxy Ring’s pricing is unknown, its competitor, the Oura Ring, starts at $299 (about Rs. 25,000) in the United States. Oura Ring is not available in India, but Noise debuted its Luna Ring last year, which costs Rs. 19,999. It is likely that Samsung’s wearable device will be similarly priced.
